Review
Farmer John has a problem: it's so hot that the eggs his hens are laying are coming out cooked. Daisy, Audrey, and Ellie May are not impressed with their working conditions--how are they supposed to do their best laying when their eggs are coming out boiled, fried, or scrambled? Farmer John's first solution, to hose them down, only enrages them further. But these chickens are not going to put up with sub-standard conditions and before Farmer John knows it, his home is being used for a very different purpose indeed!
This light-hearted rhyming tale is highly entertaining for anyone who's experienced a baking-hot Australian summer. The twist at the end, which leaves poor Farmer John in the henhouse, is great fun, and the hens themselves offer a great example of determination and problem-solving.
