People Development Effectiveness Profile (Team Discovery Series)

In today's competitive employment environment, developing the people within your organisation is a crucial requirement for retaining and engaging employees - and a key tactic in overcoming the limitations of the 'skills shortage'.

Fortunately, most leaders can learn the skills involved with employee development, particularly when the sub-skills underpinning the larger category of 'people development' are broken down, assessed and then cultivated individually.

This competency-based assessment will help you understand your own ability to develop others by identifying your current strengths and development needs in seven related skills.

This assessment deals with the following areas:

- Assessing people

- Building rapport

- Giving constructive feedback

- Identifying forward paths

- Empowering others

- Motivating others

- Mentoring others

Eighty-four questions (12 per section) are scored on a five-point scale between 'Almost Never' and 'Almost Always'. These scores are then averaged and plotted on a spider graph to give a visual representation of your overall people development performance.

Actions for low scorers are suggested and general interpretive notes/strategies give respondents tips on how to concentrate their improvement efforts. A personal action plan helps the individual commit to steps for pursuing excellence in people development.
