The Warriors

The third book in Lindsay Tanner's social commentary series. Jack Duyn is a taxi driver who's lost his job, has been thrown out of his apartment, his handful of friends have all left town, he hasn't been in a relationship for many years, and his doctor has advised him that if he doesn't quit smoking and reduce his drinking he may only have a few years left. He manages to rent a room in a rambling Carlton mansion populated by a weird array of eccentrics and chancers. He enrols in a Gender Studies class where his classmate Abby enlists him to spy on a new radical lone father's group called the Warriors. Things quickly spiral out of control, as Jack is caught in a whirlwind of violence and farce: the various threads all climax in an extended scene of crazed violence and chaos in the Carlton mansion, and the house descends into complete madness.
